Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor, and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in English literature. Mitchell was recruited as a reporter by KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in 1967. In 1976, Mitchell joined WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). A few years later, she was general reporter at NBC News in Washington. In 1981 began reporting on the White House and became chief Congress correspondent in 1988. She was made Chief White House correspondent in 1992. and chief foreign affairs Correspondent for NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist on the TV program Meet the Press and also host of the show. She was a member of an advisory panel during the 1988 debates between George Bush (then president) and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government for excellence in journalism. In 2004, The Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize of her contribution to defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell initially covered for the White House for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during the entirety of Ronald Reagan's presidency. She covered many notable issues, such as the arms control, budget taxes as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to numerous summits in the company of President Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
